Good Home Guide

Permanent Part-Time, 16 hours per week (Flexible Hours)
 Hobart, Tasmania

Unify SDA Housing is a small and values-driven Tasmanian organisation that believes strongly in tenant rights, genuine choice, and supporting people to have real control over their lives. Our approach is built on a simple and important principle. Housing and support must remain separate so every person can choose where they live and who supports them without pressure or conflict of interest.

We are looking for a Good Home Guide. This is a warm, people-focused role where you will support and connect with participants, families, support coordinators, and providers throughout their housing journey.

You will be helping people understand Specialist Disability Accommodation, which is often called SDA. SDA refers to housing that has been purposefully designed for people with significant functional impairment or very high support needs. You do not need to be an expert in SDA on day one. We will teach you. What matters most is empathy, clear communication, and the ability to build genuine and respectful relationships.

What You Will Be Doing

● Meeting with participants, families, support coordinators and OTs to understand their housing needs and provide friendly, informed guidance.

● Learning how Specialist Disability Accommodation works and explaining it in a simple and supportive way to help people understand their rights and choices.

● Conducting property inspections with future tenants and their supports.

● Helping participants understand how their NDIS plan budgets align with different housing options.
● Building positive connections with community partners and ethical investors who share our values.

What We Are Looking For

● A natural relationship builder who enjoys connecting with people.

● Someone with lived disability experience or disability sector experience.

● Supportive, empathetic, and able to communicate with warmth and clarity.

● Keen to learn about Specialist Disability Accommodation. Training will be provided.

● Confident working independently and planning your own week.

Why Join SDA Housing

● We are a small team that cares deeply about the people we support. Our work is grounded in respect, independence, and choice for participants. You will be trusted from day one and supported to grow your knowledge as you help people access homes that feel safe, stable, and truly their own.

● If you value purpose, connection, and community, we would love to hear from you.

Hours and Flexibility

This is a 16 hour per week position and we are genuinely flexible. You can work.
●4 x 4 hour day
●2 x 8 hour day
Any weekday hours that suit you.

No weekends. No rigid schedules. Just meaningful work with flexibility.
